The Nuclear Waste Management Organization has issued an update letter to South Bruce landowners regarding the ongoing Deep Geological Repository project.
NWMO Vice President of Site Selection Ben Belfadhel said in the letter that the NWMO has “aggregated over 1,500 acres in the area and have formed a potential repository site.” He said this is an important step in continuing site assessment activities, including environmental monitoring and borehole drilling.
Belfadhel also said the continued work does not mean that South Bruce has been selected as the DGR site, with plenty of work to still do. He did highlight, however, a number of planned open houses the NWMO will be hosting for South Bruce residents.
